Before I even started writing, I uploaded pictures to see if it worked, and it DID!!! Yay :)
Today, I walked across town to the Darlinghurst/Kings Cross area for what Hailey said was the best breakfast in Sydney! I had free-range scrambled eggs (which were INCREDIBLE), with yummy crusty toast and avocado salsa (think the best guacamole you've ever had--this was better). So, while it was a bit pricey for my taste, it was well worth the walk and the bill! Thanks, Bills!
Below is one of my favorite pictures I took today! I walked from Bondai Beach to Coogee Beach (about 6 km), stopping to take about 250 pictures along the way.
"Bondai Beach, July 13, 2011"
There was an ice rink ON THE BEACH! This guy was wearing a wetsuit, ice skates, and jogging. Only in Australia?
One of the many giant waves at Bondai. Note the water coming off the back. The waves were moving really fast-not all the water could keep up! The little dot in the water is a surfer (for scale).
This guy actually was able to catch one of the waves!
It was a cold and gray day today, but that didn't stop me from having fun! Not the greatest picture, but I was proud of my self-portrait skills today. I think this was balanced on a thin rail. I used a rock for another photo... :)
Once I got to Coogee, I hopped on a bus back to the city. I got off in Chinatown, and went to Paddy's Market, which reminded me a little bit of shopping in China! After grabbing some ramen for dinner, I took a bus up to The Rocks, and found my way (not an easy feat!) on to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The picture below was taken from the bus on my way to the Bridge. Lady Gaga was performing at Sydney's Town Hall tonight, and they lit up the building. Quite the crowd was wrapped around the block!
Here was one of the pictures I got of the Opera House while walking across the bridge. It's definitely easier to see from a distance!
I also got a great view of the city from the bridge! It was REALLY cold and windy walking across. It didn't stop me from taking lots of photos and drinking it all in! :)
Another self-portrait-- for this one, the camera was balanced on one of the iron bars on the bridge!
A last look at the city before... my camera battery pooped out for the day. All those videos of waves and surfers must have tired it out!
I'm head back to LA in the morning. I leave Sydney at 10:45 AM on Thursday morning, and arrive back in LA at 7:20.... on Thursday morning. Just because I've never had a 38 hour day before doesn't mean it's not possible! :)
I'll update with some more pictures from the trip when I get back. Thanks to you all for reading about this amazing Southern Hemisphere journey! It's really been an incredible trip!
Awesome how much you were able to squeeze in to your day! Glad it was such a memorable trip! Daddy and I love you and will be happy when you are safely back in your home! Can't wait to see all your pictures and here your voice in the same hemisphere!
