Last night in Santiago!

It's hard to believe this trip is almost coming to a close! I am sitting on a computer in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza in Santiago-for some reason the internet is not working in my room, so I can't share pictures tonight!

This is going to be a very short entry-I'll probably end up writing up the rest of the trip while on the plane. It's not as if I think I'll end up sleeping much of the 10 hours from Santiago to Dallas. Knowing me I'll fall asleep for the last hour of the flight from Dallas to LAX... I've been getting ridiculously little amounts of sleep here (I keep going to bed at 3 AM and having to get up at 7:30ish. I plan on sleeping for about 12 hours each of Wednesday and Thursday nights. (I'm sure that won't work, but if I plan on it, I might get 8 hours!)

I get back in to LA Wednesday at 10:30 AM and will probably sleep when I get home. I may have internet at the Santiago and/or Dallas airports, so I may post before actually getting back to LA.

Tonight's parting comment: One of the most exciting things to me about this trip (personally, not work-related) is how well I've understood the Spanish here! I have never had a Spanish class in my life, barring the week Mrs. Springgay came and taught us numbers, colors, and probably something else, when I was in 4th grade. I can generally understand a lot of what people say, if they speak clearly. If someone directs a basic comment or question to me, I am usually able to fumble back some sort of answer! This is a huge accomplishment for me!!! Before coming, Mom and Dad gave me a small Spanish travel book and I purchased myself another. I wanted to work on my pronunciation before leaving, so I would ramble awkward Spanish phrases off to Corey and he would help me say them correctly! It's amazing to me that I can actually carry on a 4 sentence "conversation" with someone before having to give up and turn to English! :)

We had a closing banquet tonight, and I had a lot of delicious food! I decided to check out the gym here, and have been stinking up the lobby for the last half hour... Time for a shower and some sleep (maybe I'll get more than 5 hours tonight)!
